Job Description:

Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey is currently seeking Vice President of Clinical Services to work with our senior healthcare communities. This position will be based in in Burlington, NJ, but will require travel to all healthcare entities within NJ (50% travel).

Plans, develops, directs and evaluates clinical services. Develops, reviews and/or makes recommendations for the revision of clinical policies and procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with the CEO, Executive Directors and Directors of Nursing. Ensures clinical policies and procedures are in compliance with Federal, State, local regulations and acceptable standards of practice.

  • Other duties as assigned by my supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility.

  • Develops, reviews and/or revises clinical policies and procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with the Executive Directors and Directors of Nursing.  Ensures clinical policies, procedures and guidelines are in compliance with the Federal, State and local regulations, and acceptable standards of practice

  • Collaborates with the Executive Directors and COO in establishing, maintaining, supporting and documenting evidence of an ongoing quality assurance/improvement program that includes measures of monitoring and evaluating resident/participant care. 

  • Assists Executive Directors and the Directors of Nursing in providing a quality improvement process for analyzing Quality Assurance/Performance tools are consistent with the clinical policies and procedures and that all data is reviewed and analyzed to assure that an appropriate plan is developed. 

  • Collaboration with the Executive Directors, Directors of Nursing, IT, software vendors and the Director of Quality Assurance to ensure they reflect current clinical policies, procedures and guidelines are met.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Quality Assurance in conducting "mock" surveys.  Identifies areas that warrant commendation, concern and deficient practices, and provides documentation to the facility. 

  • Ensures clinical standards for pressure ulcer prevention and treatment are consistent with the federal regulations, and National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) guidelines.  Reviews and revises Wound Care Products formulary in conjunction with the clinical team and consultants.  Ensures the necessary information and tools for the prevention of pressure ulcers are available to the clinical tea

  • Collaborates with the Executive Directors, Directors of Nursing in developing, reviewing and revising the Falls Prediction, Prevention and Management Program. Assists the Executive Director of Healthcare Quality Assurance and Compliance in reviewing reports for falls.

  • Coordinates trials of various products and the standardization of medical products. Ensures residents/participants receive the most clinically effective products at the most cost effective prices.

  • Collaborates with Executive Directors and Directors of Nursing and pharmacy in reviewing and/or revising pharmacy related policies, procedures and guidelines.

  •  Assists with the development and implementation of new programs and templates related to the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

  • Ensures that an infection prevention and control program is maintained. Develops, reviews and/or revises Infection Prevention and Control policies, procedures and guidelines. Assists the facilities with providing a process for reporting, documenting and monitoring suspected or known infections.

  • Collaborates with the Executive Directors, Directors of Nursing, and Human Resources in developing competencies and orientation checklists for the clinical team.

  • Participates in committees as requested by the President/CEO or the Executive Directors.  

  • Visits clinical locations on a regular basis to fulfill training and monitoring responsibilities for clinical services.  Travel is expected to be at least 50 percent on a regular basis with the Burlington Office being the home base.

  • Monitors quality of Care program to assure compliance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements and attends quality meetings for clinical sites.

  • Audits medical records to identify training needs and quality/compliance.

  • Provides orientation, training and education to Directors of Nursing and key nursing personal in all clinical service areas.

  • Provides Directors of Nursing with information on visits and observations.

  • Fills Director of Nursing vacancy, acting as interim Director of Nursing.

  • Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to the position

  • Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned by my supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility. 

Experience and Skills:

Education/Training/Certifications: Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.

 

Skill(s): Strong interpersonal skills that provide for building collaborative and collegial professional relationships across LSM/NJ. Excellent verbal and written skills. Strong administrative, managerial, organizational and clinical skills. Skilled in needs assessment, planning, establishing priorities and delegating tasks. Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations for long term care, Assisted Living, Living Independently for Elders (LIFE) and community residential living. Demonstrated knowledge of standards of care and best practices. Skilled in clinical policy and procedure development, infection prevention and control, continuous quality improvement, regulatory compliance, risk management and safety. Dedication in collaborating with the healthcare team in the planning, developing, implementing and evaluating of clinical services.

 

Experience: Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in Nursing Management, policy and procedure development and implementation. Knowledgeable about the Federal, State and local regulations for long term care, Assisted Living, Living Independently for Elders (LIFE) and community based residential living. Minimum of three years working as a Director of Nursing within a skilled nursing facility.
